Special Session Has Begun!

Dear Friends,

Today is the first day of the Special Session and I wanted to provide you with some important information regarding the next thirty days. The Governor of Texas is the only person who can call for a Special Session and Governor Abbott issued the proclamation to call the Texas Legislature into a Special Session to complete our unfinished business from the 87th Legislative Session, which concluded on May 31, 2021.

Special sessions of the Texas Legislature are short in duration (no more than 30 days in length) and can only address the topics specifically within the scope of the session as determined by the Governor. Below, I have included information on the topics that were included in Governor Abbott's proclamation.

As always, I am committed to "Listen, Learn, and Lead" and the goal of this newsletter is to keep you informed while also providing an opportunity for you to share your thoughts with me. Please contact me or my team if we can assist you in any way or if you would like to share your thoughts with us regarding the Special Session.

Sincerely,

Senator Angela Paxton
Senate District 8
